Frequently Asked Questions

How do I order?
Ordering is easy. Find the product you want, upload your artwork making sure each side or page is a separate file, add to checkout, repeat if necessary and finally go to the checkout and follow the instructions. If you're a registered user with us the process is a lot quicker and you'll be able to login in and all your details are stored.
If you have difficulty with that or would prefer to speak to one of our advisers give us a call on 01242 528286 and we'll be happy to help.

Can I Have Something Different?
We offer a vast array of different papers and boards for our products. If you require something a little different we can print on anything paper you require, we are happy to quote for this (we quote normally within 60 minutes from 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday). For most flyers & leaflets we find our standard 300gsm gloss art board or 130gsm gloss art stock are most suitable and are the least expensive.

What Is The Difference In The Paper Weights?
We specify paper and card - or stock as it is called in print, in weight measurements of “gsm,” which is in “Grams per Square Metre” and then state the surface finish. Whilst the thickness and stiffness is not in a direct relationship with this weight measurement, for instance two types of stock at 300gsm can be marginally different in thickness and stiffness, this weight can be used as a “rule of thumb”.
Standard office printer paper is 80gsm whilst our most popular flyer stock is 300gsm so is much, much thicker and stiffer than office paper. Generally speaking the higher the “gsm” the thicker and stiffer the paper or card, although one paper manufacturers stock of a given weight may vary slightly from another manufacturers of the same specification.

What Is Print Ready Artwork?
Print-ready artwork files don't require any additional processing or design before we can print from them.
If you intend to supply us with print-ready artwork, your files should be:
- set to the correct dimensions for the item that is being printed, and not need to be enlarged/reduced
- in CMYK colour format
- high resolution (in printing, this means 300dpi); unless your artwork is in a vector format
- include bleed (this is the extra bit of artwork which overlaps the line we intend to cut; without it there would be a risk of some white showing at the edges, where the guillotine cut position is slightly out) - for most business and promotional print items, this should be 1mm added to each side
- live text converted to outlines (as the text could change when opened on our computers, if we don't have the same fonts as you)
- checked thoroughly by you for errors in the spelling and grammar, incorrect information, or problems with the layout
- supplied, ideally, in one of the following formats: PDF, TIFF, EPS, or JPG with minimum compression
Of course, if you do not have print ready files, but would rather not worry about the above, you could allow our design team to prepare your artwork for professional printing. Just give us anything from a simple design brief, through to completed live artwork. We use most popular design, DTP and office programs.
